" Thank goodness I'm finally getting out of here." Sighing to herself, Shauni stepped into the prestigious pokemon lab, hoping to get a good starter so that she could get out of this town as quickly as possible. Being 19, she was finally able to make her own choices, and had decided to go against her family's long-standing tradition.
Honestly, she just couldn't stand them! Especially her 'oh-so-perfect' siblings. How she longed for revenge!
Flipping her long, black hair back, she shifted her weight as she awaited the infamous choosing 'ritual'. Though she wanted out of this town fast, she could be patient.

The door opened and a boy with Black mew ears and a long tail levitated at the door, he looked close to 11 years old, "May I help you," he asked.

Shauni seemed surprised for a moment, staring at the boy as if she'd never seen anything quite like him. And, in truth, she hadn't. Finally, however, she realized that she was being quite rude.
" Er, sorry," she muttered, looking down to the floor as her face flushed with humiliation. " And I came here, for a pokemon."
She looked back up at him, apparently unable to stop staring. Such an awe-inspiring creature he was! What exactly -was- he anyway?

"Okay follow me and my Names Jax," he replied as he moved out of the way there were a few pictures of a young Mew boy in a black uniform with a Red R on it.

The pictures certainly didn't escape Shauni's attention. Though she followed him and gaze all around the large, dome-shaped building, she made it a point to glance at the pictures, if only for a few moments. She memorized the image quite nicely, noting that the boy in the picture looked very much like the one leading her to her first pokemon. Heck, it probably -was- him.
" So, do you have a powerful fire-type? I was reading through an article in the paper, and if you guys still have any Charmanders left, I'd love one."

"As a matter of fact I think I have the perfect one for you, Shauni," he replied slyly as he headed through the back door leaving you face to face with a picture of a black and red Mew on top of a Shiney Charizard morphs head.

Shauni smirked a bit at the picture. Those two looked like good friends. She wished she had more friends like that, but she only had a few. It took her a few minutes to register the fact that he had spoken her name, and she arched a brow. Had she said it and forgotten?
" Hey, how do you know my name?"
She tilted her head quizzically, allowing a few strands of hair to cover one eye.

Jax came back in from outside holding a Sappire and Black ball, "You accidentally thought it out loud kinda," Jax replied as he showed the pokeball, to Shauni.

"Oh, really? Some kind of mind-reader huh? Cool." She accepted the pokeball from him, staring at it for a few minutes. It was a very lovely color, and not what she had expected. The pictures in the articles had been dull white and red ones.
" Wow, I guess you guys have fancy pokeballs after all. What's inside?"
She was hoping for a charmander, since it seemed to be the starter she liked the most.

"That pokemon's special, he's not like the others," Jax replied with a grin that one could have sworn his head was gonna fall off.

"Oh?" She returned his grin with a smirk, and glanced down at the pokeball. " Well then, let's see what's so special about this guy right here."
With that, she tossed the pokeball into the air, almost masterfully. She had done a lot of practice in the past.
She grinned as the ivory light shot out of the ball, anxiously awaiting to see what pokemon was contained within.

It was A black orange and Blue Charmander, that turned and looked at Shauni curiously, as if wondering what to do.

Shauni's eyes lit up, as if she were a child in a candy store. She gave the Charmander before her a hug, proclaimed it was adorable, and then recalled it back into its pokeball.
" Thank you so much," she directed toward Jax, with a lop-sided grin.
" He's adorable. And he looks tough enough to help me out with my goals."

"He knows Ice beam by the way which is odd because for one his parents weren't Shiney and two they were regular Charizards," Jax said, "You're thinking of Joining Team rocket aren't you," he asked seriously.

" Strange," she remarked, clipping the pokeball to her belt. She'd made certain to buy one of the 'special' belts to do so. His next question caused her smile to dissolve into a slight frown. She studied his facial expression quietly for a moment, and then placed both hands on her hips.
" Maybe. Why?"

"I was there for nine years the happiest I ever was is in the picture right there," he said I as he pointed to the mew on the Charizard morphs head. "but if you really think that's the right Choice I know where they are," Jax replied.

Shauni was silent, considering what he had to say. " Would they take someone as inexperienced as me anyways?" She stroked her chin thoughtfully, shutting her eyes for a moment as if that speeded the process along. " If you know where they are, I'd like to know...Just to check them out. Then I can mull it over and decide if it's worth my time."

"They are to the south, if they spot you there is no escape, you will be trapped, and at their mercy," Jax replied his words full of Wisdom.

" I'll take my chances," she replied, patting the pokeball. " I know a little martial arts. Heck, had to growing up in my family. I hated being the middle-child."
She glanced at a map on the wall. " To the south huh? Can you be a tad more specific please? Sorry, but I don't know the area all-too well."

"Well if it were me I'd go directly south from here, about 15 miles down watch your step they have traps riged to catch 'volenteers'" Jax replied.
