Nightfire gasped in surprise, and was flung forward by the pound attack. Growling, he pushed himself up.
" Try going in close and using ember!" Shauni commanded, watching Nightfire rush forward. However, when he got close to the grovyle and was about to use ember, she grinned.
" Now, Ice-beam and then ember! Beat him at his own game!"
Knowing what she meant through their mental link, Nightfire used the ice-beam to launch himself into the air, where he flipped, landing behind the Grovyle. Once he had landed, he spun around and fired an ember attack.

"Jax grinned at her cleverness, and Noded at the grovyle jumped but still taking a hit from the attack once the grovyle touched down there was a shared grin between it and Jax, as the grovele Charged forward looking like it was getting ready for a two teir attack as it started with leaf blade.

Shauni grinned. Though she wanted to win, she had to admit that Jax knew what he was doing, even if these weren't his pokemon. " Not so fast. Ice beam!" Nightfire glanced toward the floor, and fired an ice beam on it instead of the Grovyle. As Shauni had sent to him telepathically, the plan was to make the Grovyle slide on the ice, and then move in for the 'kill'.

Jax indeed did know what he was doing as his right arm was sporting a red band for some reason, Jax nodded with a grinn as the Grovle started sliding when the pokemon got close to Nightfire, Jax spoke his first word of the match, "NOW" he said as the grovylle fired a solar beam straight at Nightfire.

" Oh, clever..So he knows how to skate?" The solarbeam hit Nightfire square in the chest and sent him back several feet, but it wasn't enough to faint him. Thankfully, he had a type advantage over the grass move.
" Ember!"
Nightfire spat out several small orbs of fire toward the Grovyle, hoping to catch it off guard this time.

The grovle was hit but slid into a wall and bounced off of it toward Nightfire with a well aimed pound attack.

Nightfire slid back again, grimacing in pain. The pound attacks really hurt, especially since he'd just been hit in that area by Solarbeam. His knees looked ready to buckle, but he wasn't done just yet.
" Ice-beam, again!"
He fired again, trying to put as much power behind it as possible. He hoped it would work, because if it didn't, he'd be running out of steam..

The grovyle bounced off of another wall and was merely grazed by the Ice beam the leaf on top of his head was frozen solid as it made another go at Nightfire with a direct Leaf blade.

Though not a super strong attack, combined with Nightfire's fatigue, it was a pretty effective. He fell to the ground, tried to force himself back up, and then collapsed from exhaustion. He'd more or less beaten himself by using too much energy. A common, rookie trainer mistake.
" Darnit.."
Shauni recalled Nightfire quickly, and debated over her next choice. It should have been obvious, but it took her a few minutes to decide on Ho-oh. This was, after all, their last battle together.
" Do me proud," she whispered to the pokeball, unleashing the large, shimmering bird onto the field.
" Sacred fire!"
The Ho-oh unleashed a torrent of fire, all heading toward the much-smaller grovyle.

The grivle dodged most of it but was still hit the leaf on his head became un frozen as he Started bouncing from wall to wall again, conserving energy, until it was needed.

" Use fly!" The Ho-oh rushed toward the bouncing grovyle, attempting to smash into it. Ho-oh was a rather large pokemon, so its wings scraped the walls a bit as it did so. Not painfully, however. In fact, it seemed intentional on the fire bird pokemon's part.

Jax saw the intention and nodded it seems the bouncing had two purposesas the grovyle landed on ho-oh's back and used solar beam.

" Use sacred fire on yourself!"
Ho-oh quickly nodded, breathing the massive amount of fire out of its mouth, and surrounding himself in it. It wouldn't harm the fire-type pokemon that had casted it, but if the Grovyle didn't move, it was sure to spell bad for him. Especially considering the solarbeam might explode on both of them for recoil damage.

the grovyle moved at the last second as an explosion ensued blowing it backwards but surprisingly, the grovyle was still standing Jax smiled he knew this pokemon was tough.

Ho-oh was tough too, especially considering the fact that his own fire didn't harm him, and he was strong against the grass-type in more ways than one.
Glowering at the Grovyle, Ho=oh flapped its wings mightily, awaiting command.
" You know what to do..."
Nodding briefly, the giant bird fired a colossal flamethrower.

The grovle seemed to smirk as it jumped out of the way and did another series of ricoteting jumps before Landing on the Ho-oh again this time the Grovyle jumped a little bit and then unleashed a Hyperbeam at Ho-oh.

The Ho-oh shrieked from the impact of the attack, but it wasn't going down as easily as Nightfire had. In fact, the attack seemed to enrage it a bit.
Screeching as it recovered from the attack, it turned its sights on Grovyle. Now, Grovyle was open. He had to waste a whole move recharging after using the powerful beam.
" Destroy it!" Shauni commanded, motioning downwards with her hand, to signal a fly attack was in order.
Ho-oh didn't need to be told twice. Glaring at the grass-type pokemon, it rocketed toward him with a powerful fly.

Jax smirked at the grovle who seemed to be recovering lightly faster than most maybe it was from experiance as it just smirked and 'fell down as Ho-oh flew over it after that it struggled but managed to stand up again.

" Obliterate it! You have double the type advantage! Don't let it get up, and put him down for the count! Flamethrower!" The Ho-oh was feeling quite like Shauni was, and decided that her orders were actually logical this time. He unleashed a flamethrower once more.
" And don't just stand there, keep moving around! He is!"
The Ho-oh acknowledged this and flew around in circles where the grovyle was, making what seemed to be some sort of odd fire spin, only stronger.

The grovyl watched the Ho-oh carefully then seemed to Vanish into a pursuit attack followed by brick break as it was commanded.
