The Ho-oh flinched a little and shied away from the attack, but immediately followed it up with a flamethrower. There was no way he wanted to lose to a smaller pokemon again!

The ho-oh was considerably weaker at this point, but still had a fierce glint in its eyes. It wasn't through yet. At Shauni's command, he hurdled toward the Sandslash with a fly attack, cutting through the sandstorm in a final attempt to make himself useful.

The last Rock move had fainted Ho-oh, and because of all the dust, Shauni couldn't see the impact that had been made to the Sandslash. She could only hope it had fainted.
" Return!"
She released Nightfire as soon as she had called ho-oh back, and they stood, tense, awaiting signs of the ground-type pokemon.

" Ice-beam!"
Nightfire opened his mouth wide, firing an ice-beam at the sandslash, and at the floor for good measure.

Nightfire fell to the ground as the earthquake hit, but managed to pull himself up. It had been a powerful attack however, so he was anxious that the next pokemon might be too much for him.
" Hold in here ,buddy!"

Jax recalled the sandslash with a grin as he called the next one out which was a graveller. "I told you it wouldn't be as easy," Jax said as the graveller used Sandstorm to reduce nightfires sight.

" So I can see," she muttered, grimacing as Nightfire rubbed the stinging sand out of his eyes. " Try another ice-beam!" He fired directly into the heart of the sand-storm. Would it work?

" Quick, Ice-beam launch!" Nightfire quickly launched himself into the air with ice-beam, like he'd done at the first gym, flipping out of the way of the earthquake.
" ember!"
Nightfire fired a few embers at the rock-pokemon.

" Ice-beam, then ember!" She pointed at the rocks, and Nightfire froze them, and then followed it up with a powerful ember, breaking them apart before they could pound his head. The combo had taken a lot of energy however, so Nightfire quickly jumped back and tried to coat the floor with ice, hoping it would buy him time to power up again.

The Rock slide hit dead on, throwing nightfire several feet. " Nightfire!" Nightfire lay motionless on the ground for a few moments, but eventually forced himself up. He had one eye closed, and was badly bruised. He wouldn't last very long.
<CHAR!>
He rushed toward the rock pokemon, firing an ice-beam.

Nightfire fell to the ground, knocked out from the force of the impact. Well, this wasn't too good. SHe only had one pokemon left. " Go, phoenix!" The odd pokemon was in his large form. "Body slam!" He rushed toward the Graveler and tried to smash into him.
